Is It Fair to Lock Users Into Subscriptions?

Paste is a clipboard manager, not a service provider. It stores my data—my snippets, my notes, my work—not some cloud-based product they maintain on my behalf. Charging a subscription for this is fundamentally flawed. I’m not asking for a service; I’m using a tool. A hammer doesn’t ask for monthly payments just because you keep using it. Paste shouldn’t either.
