Preserve image format when pasting from Paste history

When an image is pasted directly from the clipboard, it is inserted as an image. But when the same image is pasted from Paste history, it is inserted as a TIFF file. It would be helpful if Paste preserved the original image format or pasted it the same way as the system clipboard.
